As of now, I, Phillip Keenan, am the only official member of Story Master. I write all the stories, I design and edit the illustrations, create most of the logos, format the books, set them up for sale, and I do the marketing. The only thing I don't do is the actual illustration. I design them, then I have an illustrator take my sketches, and create professional illustrations, and then I edit them if necessary. Whenever I need an illustrator or anyone else to help with a project, I am fortunate enough to be able to hire professionals to get the job done, and I am also fortunate to have lots of skilled persons who contribute with amazing work. It is my hope that Story Master will grow, and that one day I will have an official team to help make Story Master an even bigger success. Eventually, I would like to have other writers to add to my family of stories, a team of illustrators that can put more focus on our stories, and additional authors to lead the way. But for right now, I am grateful for what I have.
But while I have no official team members, I would like to introduce to you the skilled workers who contribute to my Story Master projects. As mentioned, Story Master has no employees; persons such as illustrators are hired as they are needed for the books. However, I feel as though the persons who contribute are part of the Story Master family. I have a good working relationship with my illustrators, and I would very much like to maintain that. They are highly skilled, and are a joy to work with. I try to use the same illustrator for every story within a storyline. So for example, for all “The Adventures of Phillip & Bonzo” stories, I use the same illustrator for each one. This ensures a consistent look and quality for the storyline, and so the illustrator is very familiar with the characters. This all make me feel like I have an official team after all. They make my dreams come true, and so I want to give them special recognition, and further help them if possible. They do great work for me, so I'm sure they can do great work for you too.
You may read everyone's bios here. You can see what they specialize in, learn about their contributions to Story Master, and find out how to contact them so that they can help you with your projects too.
I want to be clear though that the inclusion of our illustrator bios and links to their project pages is not a deal in order to receive any discounted illustrations. While negotiating deals, and giving artists exposure in exchange for work can work out for some, I don’t do that here at Story Master. Artists aren’t known for making a lot of money, and the artists who illustrate my stories put in a lot of hard work, and so they deserve to be fairly paid. Besides, I want the best quality, so it makes sense. Of course, my budget is small, and so funding books can be challenging at this time, which means I can’t hire every illustrator that I come across whose style might fit one of my stories. This means that I have to find artists who fit my budget, but I do make sure that those who I hire are paid and treated fairly.
