However, I still think that it’s a bad idea to us A.I. I think we still need to consider the human aspect here. I am reminded of this when I see some of the illustrations from my illustrators. I realize that while I designed the illustrations, and the illustrator is the one who made them, there’s still a lot of design that comes from the illustrator. Let’s be honest; the illustrator is partly a designer of the illustration because they’re the one’s filling in all the details that you didn’t include. Furthermore, each artist would illustrate the same design differently; in other words, they add their own personal touch to the picture. And in addition to that, most of these illustrations are simply amazing, and even though they are meant to accompany the story, I realize that they are still works of art in their own right; meaning I could easily take an illustration from my Phillip & Bonzo series, have it printed and framed, and hang it on a wall, and it would work just as good as a stand alone work of art that you’d find in a museum as the visual companion to a story it's supposed to be…which invites us to appreciate the humananity behind it...again, something that we just wouldn’t get with A.I. So why not just have the art come from an actual artist?
Another thing that I dislike about artificial intelligence is that it makes the practice of ghosting so much easier.
What is ghosting? It’s actually a very common practice in which someone creates content for someone else, but only the person who it’s being made for gets the credit for making it. This can include writing stories, writing documentaries, writing song lyrics and music, making art including illustrations for stories, etc. Someone can just have A.I. do all the work, and they act as if it’s all them. Ghosting with A.I. allows you to ghost without even having to talk to anyone, or get anyone involved in any way. So not only is ghosting easier with A.I., but not a single person is even aware of the deception.
It’s a common practice, and an immoral one. It’s pure deception. Not only are you taking credit for someone else’s work, but the one who actually does the work doesn’t get any credit at all. Persons who use ghosted work are portraying a particular image of themselves that doesn’t exist. It’s wrong, and in my opinion, should be illegal.
